JOE HAROLD ANDREWS

Joe Harold Andrews, age 86, passed from this life Sunday, December 19, 2021. Joe was born February 6, 1935 in Madisonville, TX to Joe Gus and Melba Gibson Andrews. He was a retired rancher, and former owner/operator of Abilene Edu cational Supply. Joe was a member of the Rotary Club. He was a long-time member at the Hillcrest Church of Christ in Abilene where he was an elder and was devoted to humbly serving others through teaching and benevolence. He loved fishing, hunting, and camping with his wife, kids and grandkids and flipping sour dough pancakes. He and Anna Jo made many great memories in Colorado with their dear friends the Baileys and the Bradshaws. He will be remembered as a gentle and loving husband, father, and grand-father. Joe is survived by his wife, Anna Jo Andrews of Hudson Oaks, daughter, Sherry Singleton and husband Randy of Weatherford, sons, David Andrews and wife Sharla of Brock, Darrel Andrews and wife Vicki of Weatherford, brothers, Kenneth Andrews of Madisonville, Johnny Frossard of Ennis, Woody Frossard of Granbury, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Wanda Faye (Griffin) Eubanks; 73 years, 5 months, 3 days; of North Zulch, TX; passed away on Friday; December 24, 2021 in Bryan, TX. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thurs day; December 30, 2021 at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville, TX with Bro. Dale Evans officiating. The burial will follow at Rock Prairie Cemetery in Madisonville, TX.

Both Madisonville basketball teams withdrew from their scheduled holiday break tournaments this week due to health and safety protocols. The men’s squad was scheduled to compete in the Houston County Tournament Tuesday through Thursday while the women's team was slated to compete in the Aggieland Classic Monday through Wednesday. Both teams defeated Aggieland Homeschool at MHS in standalone matchups Dec. 21 with the men’s team prevailing 53-32 and the women’s team earning a 45-31 victory. The current plan is for the men’s team to return to the court Jan. 4 at Wilmer-Hutchins and the women’s team to return to open district play at MHS against Mexia. ‘Keep Madison County Beautiful’ awarded the winners of the 2021 Christmas lights contest this week with victors coming from individual towns. The top six houses in Madisonville (no particular order) were awarded to Colby and Kayla Wells, Joey and Shannon Frederick, Armando and Cynthia Juarez, Juan Torres, Mary and Don Gilbert and Emilio Estrada. From North Zulch, top prizes went to Ricky and Brandy Palasota (First Place), Scott and Carrie Kilpatric (Second) and Dennis and Linda Altum (Third). Midway’s top prizes were awarded to Sarah Donaho (First), Betty Ann Neal (Second), Marie Driver (Third) with an Honorable Mention given to Diane Barrington. KAY WELCH
