Janet Parten, 75, passed away September 22, 2021 in Bryan, Texas following an extended illness. Her funeral service was held 2 p.m., Sunday, September 26, 2021 at First United Methodist Church, Madisonville, Texas. Pastor of the church, Rev. Jim Jackson, officiated the service, and interment followed in Madisonville Cemetery.

Carolyn Sue (Ward) Miller; 61; of Madisonville, TX; passed away on Tuesday; September 14, 2021 in Bryan, TX. Graveside services were scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday; September 25, 2021 at Winn Cemetery in Marquez, TX. Charlie Miller officiated.

Nelson Drake, 62, of Madisonville, Texas passed away September 24, 2021 following an extended illness. He was born August 7, 1959 in Madisonville, Texas to Bobby Merle & Alene (Ivey) Drake. Nelson lived most of his life in Madisonville and was a member of First Baptist Church. Most people recognize Nelson as the longtime successful business owner and operator of Drake’s Collision Center in Madisonville.

Kaylee Morton is handling her roles for the East Texas Baptist University women’s volleyball team. The Normangee High School graduate is a setter and right side hitter, the same as her freshman season.

Madisonville’s defense met Livingston’s strong offensive attack with intensity throughout the team’s loss to conclude district play Friday night. “I just felt like our intensity overall was better,” said head coach Russell Urbantke.

Madisonville’s offense struck gold twice in the second quarter of Friday’s 24-14 loss in Livingston with a pair of explosive touchdowns to build an early lead, but struggled to convert on their chances as the game progressed into the second half.
